At The Banff School, our "Bear Cubs" (3 and 4-year-old students), are learning, growing, and readying their minds for our college-preparatory program. Our Houston preschool curriculum, Bear Cub program, gives students the opportunity to develop in a loving environment designed to foster their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Our Houston Private Preschool also provides children with our experiential learning & extensive fine arts programs This isn't just a daycare program... We work with our students to prepare them for success as they begin their education journey with us.
Preparing students for Kindergarten
Our teachers prepare our Bear Cubs (our 3 and 4-year-old students) so that when they start Kindergarten they are already:
- Reading
- Writing their letters and numbers
- Recognizing colors and shapes
- Completing simple math equations
- Counting by 2s, 5s and 10s
- Using advanced fine and gross motor skills
- Accustomed to the increased stamina needed for elementary school

Our teachers prepare our students for success in Kindergarten through a curriculum that:
- Develops firm social skills by learning to share and cooperate with others
- Stimulates curiosity, imagination and the thirst for knowledge and discovery
- Introduces children to the world of letters by teaching them to recognize a letter, its sound and as an object association
- Introduces children to the concept of numbers
- Introduces children to the world of shapes and colors
- Develops fine motor skills through writing, coloring, cutting, and gluing
- Develops gross motor skills through running, jumping, climbing and gameplay
